For most people it seems to be the same; you lose or break a lense in your glasses and you go out and buy an entirely new pair, frame included. However there’s simply no need to spend quite so much on a new pair of glasses just for replacement lenses.
You can instead opt to get your glasses reglazed, or simply get the current lenses replaced, allowing you to keep the frames you already have. This not only allows you to save a fortune, but also lets you keep your current frames.

Image you have an expensive paid of designer sunglasses and you crack the lense, normally you’d expect to pay full retail price for a new pair of frames with new lenses. Taking your frames in to an opticians to get reglazed however will mean you can keep the designer frames and save yourself a huge amount of money. Sunglasses can be reglazed even if you can have a prescription, meaning it’s an ideal option regardless of your situation.
The only issue you might come across with sunglasses is if you have a pair that are especially curved. If you do have excessively curved sunglasses it’s worth checking with your local optician via the phone or internet before taking your frames in as they sometimes have issue reglazing frames above a certain curvature.
If you’ve managed to break the frame of your glasses, then you will probably need to buy a brand new pair, as frame can’t be fixed in the same way. If your frame is damaged but not completely broken, you will have to call and check with your optician. Most opticians will only be able to offer a reglaze service is the frame is still in good condition and therefore not likely to brake during the glazing process.
