There are 3 basic rules to follow to beat your current debt problems. It isn’t always easy but get started right now and you’re problem will be dealt with fast than you would expect.
1. Don’t get into more debt!
Set up an fund for emergencies.
Start a ‘snowballing’ effect when paying off your debt.
The first step is the most obvious, and can be done quickly, but we must bear in mind that the use of a credit card is a sure fire way to acquire more debt. We should not use them at all, because they are the most common cause of our debt accumulation.
Once you feel that you’re back on track then you can start thinking about using the cards again. The card is really just another generator of debts if already have debts.
And once you stopped using credit card you need to analyse your fixed monthly expenses and give up absolutely everything that you can manage to live without. Such as the underused gym, a subscription to a magazine, eating out twice a week, and designer clothes. You don’t want to do something drastic like having to remortgage a property.
Once you have stopped acquiring more debt create an emergency fund. This will be a back up plan in case something goes wrong; without that money to fall back on you can put yourself or your family at risk.
Otherwise, you can not fix what is urgently required without using your credit card, nor will you be able to continue paying debts. It is never a good idea to use your credit card in anyway as part of your attempts to clear your debts. It’s better to have money in your bank account where you can take it out quickly.
Getting your debt to snowball is the third step and one that can be very effective. There are different approaches but this one gets a lot of people motivated.
List your debts with the smallest of the top and the biggest at the bottom. Start putting all your free money towards the smallest debts at the very top of the list. When that is paid do the same the second one and so on.
You’ll start to find your debts snowballing quickly and they will start to reduce in size as you do this. It’s unbelievable how quickly this can take care of your debt problems. For more debt solutions and remortgage information try this site.
